Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP and Condiments in step with a Sustainable Future.
Our commitment in terms of environmental sustainability stems from the awareness that Sustainability must come from each of us, from collective participation, from the strength of believing that what we do, although a drop in the ocean, can trigger a virtuous process capable of making a difference.
This commitment takes the form of promoting activities in the short, medium and long term aimed at creating a responsible interaction with the environment while preserving the protection of the natural balance, with the people and the community.
For this reason and to make our commitment official, we are thrilled to announce that Carandini has recently published its third Sustainability Report.
Since 2015, Carandini has been running a state-of-the-art biological purification system designed to treat residual water generated from in-house processing. With the addition of natural products (such as calcium bicarbonate) to improve the breakdown of polluted water as it enters the purification process, muddy residues are obtained and then repurposed as by-products, transferred to a biomass processing plant for further utilization.

Carandini uses exclusively certified renewable electricity. Part of the energy needs is met through the purchase of renewable energy, while the remaining portion is self-produced through the photovoltaic system at the Scandiano facility.
In 2024, a second photovoltaic system was designed for the Castelnuovo Rangone plant.

To quantify the total amount of its direct and indirect CO2e emissions and to implement effective climate strategies, Carandini completed its third Corporate Carbon Footprint in accordance with ISO 14064. The inclusion of two additional categories of indirect Scope 3 emissions made the calculation increasingly precise and representative of the company’s actual impact.

In 2024, a total of 734 hours of training were provided, 24 of which focused on circular economy principles aimed at protecting both the ecosystem and people.

Carandini launched a project aimed at optimizing the circularity of its production cycle by reducing waste and improving the management of raw materials and by-products. The pallets purchased within the CHEP circuit can be reintroduced into the system for reuse.
100% of corrugated cardboard and 49% of label paper are FSC certified, while glass bottles are made from recycled material and are fully recyclable.
In 2024, a study was conducted to develop more sustainable packaging solutions: aluminum caps free from chlorides and tamper-evident caps were introduced, enabling the elimination of plastic capsules.
